Nottingham, a location where our Barn Dance Band could play for your wedding or event

Towns, cities and regions have an influence on the style of music, whether it is the 'English Countryside' feel of Vaughan Williams, the strength of Elgar's Victorian Malvern, or the skirl of Northumbrian Pipe tune.

Of Nottingham, has been said:-

"  Nottingham began in the 6th century as a small Saxon settlement called Snotta ing ham. The Saxon word ham meant village. The word ing meant 'belonging to' and Snotta was a man. So it was the village owned by Snotta. It was inevitable that sooner of later Nottingham would grow into a town as it is the first point where the Trent can be forded but the river is also navigable this far inland. In the late 9th century the Danes conquered North East and Eastern England. "

1 don’t especially value ‘originality’ in art, as I consider the communal development of folksongs is no whit inferior to the original achievement of a great outstanding ‘original’ genius. It is the universal that pulls me in all matters and I am more thrilled by these points that all people have in common than in the special achievements and specialness of individuals.~ Percy Grainger
